Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is a non-productive organization affiliated to Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, which has the function of scientific research, collection, inventory, preservation and restoration of artifacts and materials of ethnic groups; organizing exhibitions, performances and other activities aimed at introducing, disseminating and educating the historical and cultural values of ethnic groups in Vietnam and abroad; providing research data on ethnic groups for other sectors; training researchers, professional and managerial staff in museum anthropology.
In addition, the unique architecture and novelty of the works is one of the essential factors that attracting much attention of visitors. Situated on a 3-hectare plot, designed by architect Hà Đức Lịnh, interior designed by French architect Véronique Dollfus.
The museum consists of three main exhibition hall: The Exhibition Hall inside Bronze Drum Tower, Outdoor Exhibition Hall and Southeast Asia Exhibition Hall. AAOpened in late 1997, the museum attracted the attention of many tourists and cultural researchers not only in Vietnam but also from other countries all over the world.
