In 1958, Thống Nhất park was built with the expectation of being a symbol of peace and the dream of reunification of the country. The construction was completed by the end of 1960. Many of work items and components such as gates, fence walls are the creations from several architectural competitions those require solutions harmonizing with the local landscape.
The northern gate of the park, locating in Trần Nhân Tông street, was designed by architect Lê Văn Lân.
